    Query Errors

      Query Errors

      FileMaker Server

      Operating system version

      Windows server 2008

      Description of the issue

We run the queries in our application against File maker database but there are the following problems:

1)Error occurred while retrieving data for the “Description” column in the “Table1” table in FM. However data can be retrieved against all other fields in the “Table1” table.
      Query: select "Description" FROM "Table1"
Error:  Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
Data type: Data type of the field “Description” is “Text”, all other fields of datatype “Text”  can be retrieved using the select statement.

I tried using different queries syntax to get the data for this field but could not succeed and getting other syntax errors

      Some of them are:
      select "[Description]" FROM "Table1"
      select "{Description}" FROM "Table1"
      select ["Description"] FROM "Table1"

2)Error occurred while updating a field of type “Timestamp”.
      Query:  update "Table2" set Date_Transferred='6/6/2011 2:46:33 PM'
      Error: Exception:ERROR [HY000] [FileMaker][FileMaker] FQL0013/(1:33): Incompatible types in assignment.

This is a problem with most of the queries where an insert or update is required for a “Timestamp” field.

If we use a null value while inserting or updating data for a timestamp field, it runs the query fine, like the following query:

      insert into Table3 values(-14511,'','test@gmail.com', 2,0,  null   ,'','test','test', null ,16)

I also tried using different query format to run the query but it is giving the above error or syntax errors, two of them are following:

      Syntax tried:
      update  "Table2" set  Date_Transferred='6/6/2011 2:46:33 PM'   where "Table2"."k_Table2ID"=186
      - Exception:ERROR [HY000] [FileMaker][FileMaker] FQL0013/(1:33): Incompatible types in assignment.

      update  "Table2" set  Date_Transferred='{ts 6/6/2011 2:46:33 PM}'   where "Table2"."k_Table2ID"=186
      - Exception:ERROR [HY000] [FileMaker][FileMaker] FQL0013/(1:33): Incompatible types in assignment.
