It happen very often if adding a new field to layout (eg by dragging field tool)
that a different table is shows up in the dialog window.

Most times it does not make any sense.

use a complex database and work some time with it.

add a field to a layout

      Expected result

fields from the current layout table should be presented first, not any other random table.

      Actual result

fields from a random choosen table shown in the field dialog.

               Thank you for your post.

At this time, when Layout Mode is invoked, the field tool will display fields from the current layout.  Once a field is selected, any other layout you then edit will first display the fields from the original layout until changed again.  It is not random.  For instance, if you are in Table1 and invoke the field tool, fields from the current table (Table1) will display.  If you then switch to a layout based on Table2, the field tool will continue to display the fields from Table1 until changed.

This occurs in both Mac OS X and Windows.

I have sent your post to Development and Testing departments for review.  When I receive any feedback, I will let you know.

                 Hi,

                 thanks for response.

Ok, I assumed that it is not completely random.

But most times it is more disturbing or misleading than helpful.
