    RECORD DISPLAY ORDER

    jowen

      Summary

      RECORD DISPLAY ORDER

      Description of the issue

Our records have always displayed according to our invoice number which in turn puts them in date order.  Created a new data base for 09 and exported needed info from 08 database. Now the 09 records do not display in the correct order.  Seems there is no order what so ever. Please help.

Unless you have a sort on the records or relationship, then it should be by creation order. If you have imported the old records into it though, then you could potentially have a hodge-podge of records that were orig in the 09 file, then the 08 stuff ( perhaps sorted depending on which way you exported/imported the records ), and then any new 09 stuff you created.

Thanks for the reply.  I agree it probably has something to do with export order.  That said, is there anyway to restore the 09 database to display in creation order?

Well if you sort the current records the way that you want and then import those records into perhaps a temp table, or empty clone, then you should have the order that you want. You can also export the sorted found set, and show all records and delete all the records, and then reimport back into the table. You should probably make a backup of the file before trying this.
