Summary

Saving layout in FM14 causes bad formatting for FM13 WebDirect

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

Mixed

Operating system version

OSX

Description of the issue

When opening a file hosted on FMS13 with FMP14 and editing any layout the theme will be adjusted to FM14. This causes at the (new) placeholder style to used for the field instead of the normal style when using FMS13 WebDirect.

May not be best practise usage but it seems better to share this behaviour here. Developers often upgrade first to test 14 usage first. But they may inadvertently cause the style to change just by opening a file.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Create a file in FMP13.
Set layout to "Vibrant" theme. (haven't tested other themes)
Save file and host on FMS13 with WebDirect.
Open file in WebDirect to see how it looks.
Open file in FMP14.
Go to layout mode, do anything -> Save changes.
Open file in WebDirect again. (on the same FMS13 server)

Expected result

The same layout as before.

Actual result

Style of the normal contents in fields have changed to placeholder style. (light gray)

Workaround

Open again with FMP14 and change placeholder style in theme to the same as the normal style.
