      Summary

      Script step "Save Records As PDF" dont work in runtime version.

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      FilieMaker Pro Advanced 13.0v5

      Operating system version

      Mac OS X Yosemite

      Description of the issue

      Script step "Save Records As PDF" works excellently in FileMaker Pro 13 Advanced but dont in the runtime version. Script is:

      Set Variable [$Polku_nimi; Value:"file:Docs/" & ridasjarvi::textapu3 & ridasjarvi::textapu1 & " s1.pdf"]

      Save Records as PDF [Restore; No dialog; "$Polku_nimi"; Current record]

      I have tested doc with FMP 12 Advanced too with older operating system with same results.

          If you look up the Save As PDF script step in FileMaker help, the compatibility chart shows that this step is not compatible with runtime solutions. This is apparently due to FileMaker choosing not to license the needed technology from Adobe for runtime solutions.

          You do have a work around possible: A PDF "printer" utility can be installed along with your runtime solution on a customer's machine. Your script can use that printer to "print" to a PDF. If you also install a plug in such as MyFMButler, you can also script the printing process--perhaps, (haven't tried this) to the point of being able to generate PDF's without pausing for user input to name the PDF File.

            Hi Hannu Airas.

            This is expected behavior, described on page 31 of Advanced Features Guide :

            - Runtime applications do not include the ability to Save/Send Records as Adobe PDF files.

            Good luck, Fred
