slow horizontal scrolling FM Pro 11

      Summary

slow horizontal scrolling FM Pro 11

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      11

      Operating system version

      Mac OS X ver. 10.6.7

      Description of the issue

Database contains about 40 fields, fields are text, number, date and two container fields with jpg icons within.

When scrolling from left to right horizontally (in the "Table" view mode) there is about a 10 second delay where the Mac color pinwheel rotates for 10 seconds, then the horizontal scroll catches up and continues. I suspect the problem is that FM Pro is loading the jpg photo icons into the respective container cells (along with the macros that link the icons to the actual jpg photos). The icons are linked to their respective photos which are contained in a folder on my desktop.

Is there any way to speed up the horizontal scrolling process?

      Thanks.

          Thank you for your post.

Keep in mind that Table view allows you to view multiple records at one time.  If you scroll to an area where the Container field is present and/or the contents have not yet been displayed, then the contents of that Container field load.  As a possible workaround, you may want to consider a second Layout that displays the fields without the Container fields.  Then, in Table View, you can scroll through the records without any delay.  You can even set up a button on a field so that when clicked, it switches back to Form View on the original layout (displaying the Container fields).
