SQL Server Linked Server Connection to Filemaker Pro 11.3

    JohnCrawford

      Summary

SQL Server Linked Server Connection to Filemaker Pro 11.3

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      11.3

      Operating system version

      Windows 7

      Description of the issue

      See the following forum post:
      http://forums.filemaker.com/posts/0ab2590a8d

      Steps to reproduce the problem

      1. Setup a linked server connection via the ODBC driver
      2. Attempt to query across the connection

      Expected result

      rows returned

      Actual result

No rows returned and throws error

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

Cannot process the object "select * from Syd". The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "FMPRO" indicates that either the object has no columns or the current user does not have permissions on that object.

      Configuration information

      See the following forum post:
      http://forums.filemaker.com/posts/0ab2590a8d

Attempted on both SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008 R2 with the same results

      Workaround

I was able to use the same ODBC connection that was failing via the SQL Server Linked Server to connect to the database via Excel (and SSIS) and it worked, but not via the linked server connection.
