    Toolbar refresh

    fabricen

      Summary

      Toolbar refresh

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      11v2

      Operating system version

      Mac OS X 10.6

      Description of the issue

Sometimes, we run into a situation where the status toolbar is not refreshed.
A simple onRecordLoad trigger can lock the toolbar record navigation system in a window, or sometimes even in a session (for a file). Not an application session.

      Steps to reproduce the problem

      not able to reproduce constantly

      Expected result

It seems the record navigation part of the toolbar (arrows, pie, slider, count) is not refreshed and does not always react to a record change.
It behaves like a sub program that sometimes crashes or runs into a 'not responding mode'.
In general, there are too many situations in which the toolbar (not only the record part) displays erroneous information. It's probably not sensitive enough to feed-backs coming from the rest of the app.
A 'status' bar must indicate the status, that is RECEIVE information from the app and display it. I sometimes have the impression that because it is also a 'tool' bar, it only displays information that would be expected if everything was fine when the user SENDS an action message.

      Workaround

close the file and relaunch it.

          Thank you for your post.

These type of issues are frustrating (for both the user and us) because they are not easily reproducible.

I did find a post that may be related.  See:

Can't Refresh Window's Status Toolbar During Script Execution

In that case, the Status Toolbar does not update after Refresh Window while a script is running.

When this does occur, is it usually after a long time using FileMaker Pro (meaning possible memory issue)?  Does this usually occur after running the same script or script trigger?  Any other information you can provide may be helpful.
