      Summary

Using FileMaker 5.0 on multiple computers

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      5.0

      Operating system version

      Windows Vista

      Description of the issue

I have had FileMaker 5.0 running on our main computer for a long time.  I would now like to copy and use a file on our laptop.  I installed the software on the laptop.  However, I come up with an error message saying that it is only a single-user version.

Is there any way around this without buying another copy?

No and good look acquiring another copy that old. Current version is FileMaker 12 and it can't even convert a fileMaker 5 format to the new format used in 12. You'd have to use FileMaker 11 to convert the file once then use FileMaker 12 to convert the converted copy.

I'm suprised that FileMaker 5 even works on a laptop running Vista.
