Is FileMaker Pro installed on this computer also?
If so, is Sharing enabled for FileMaker Pro on it?
If so, try launching FileMaker Pro and turning sharing off for this application and see if you get the same error dialog or not.
Yes Filemaker Pro is also installed. The only sharing option I found is this: File > Sharing >(Filemaker Network or Instant Web Publishing or ODBC/JDBC)> set the sharing option (ON/OFF)..After setting the sharing option under the file menu to OFF. I still receive the same dialog..is there another setting to set the sharing option to ON/OFF?
The Sharing dialogs can be a bit confusing. Each of the three options enables sharing for the FileMaker applications, but then a lower part of the dialog enable setting sharing options for the filemaker files that are currently open.
As I understand it, you can't have FileMaker configured to share files (act as the host for shared database files) on a machine that has Server installed and running.
Thus, if you Launch FileMaker and select Sharing from the File menu, Sharing--on all three sub menus, Network, ODBC and Instant Web Publishing should be set to "off".
If, after making those setting changes and closing FileMaker, you still get this error code, I'm not sure what to do next.
I tried that as you told me and is still giving me the same. I haven't created any other accounts yet except for the administrator account that has full access. When I download the FileMaker Pro it automatically created a "guest" account, however is inactive and there shouldn't be any other user except for the administrator...
I don't see where else can there be another user :/
Thank you very much for your help
Thank you for your posts.
If you are still encountering the same problem, reboot your server so that FileMaker Server starts up as normal and opens the files automatically. Do you still get the same message? If so, do you have another machine set up with the same IP address?
If you have already found a solution, please let me know so that others can benefit if they run into the same issue.
Yes, I found a solution, but I don't know if it will work for others. I used the two machine set up, where in one machine I only installed the server (master) and I used the other machine as my worker. In the worker, I have install the filemaker pro as well as the filemaker server with the exception that when I install the server I specify that the machine will be used as a worker. This way I can share the databases through the server and I no longer have the error.
