When using SMTP server settings, error 1506 is reported inconsistently

Description of the issue
Error 1506 is reported (randomly?) when using SendMail script step. Emails may or may not be delivered to the recipients.
I use 'smtp server' settings and the system works as expected, except for occasional 'missing' emails and 1506 errors despite successful email send.
Steps to reproduce the problem
The problem cannot be reproduced as it appears intermittently.
Either no error reported or 1506 ONLY if the email isn't sent.
Error 1506 reported (randomly) when email is successful.
Using corporate Gmail account
None. Either accept some emails will go missing (monitor and resend manually) or resend the mail until error 1506 isn't received and deal with the issues of multiple identical emails in the recipients inbox.
