    Windows Printer Setup Script Bug

      Summary

      Windows Printer Setup Script Bug

      Description of the issue

I have a Windows network consisting of Filemaker Server 9 running on a Windows 2003 Server, FMA on a XP client and several FM9 clients running Window XP with a networked HP LaserJet 4 printer. Since I upgraded to FM9 my computers are not able to properly remember the Printer Setup commands contained in Scripts.   Prior to FM9 when a script contained: paper bin, paper size, page orientation, ect it would print properly, after FM9 none of the computers would print according to the predefined script.  Upon review of the script it still properly shows the correct criteria.  I've tried to reset the printer setup script steps in FM9 with no luck. Any ideas on how I could resolve this problem?

          Hi X5,

Let's expand a bit on the behavior of your script:

-If the printing does not follow the predefined script, what is the exact behavior?  Will it print to the default settings, random settings, etc.?

-Are there any printer changes in your script?

-Will the setting hold for another printer?

-Will the setting hold in a test database with a re-created script?

-Will File > Print hold the settings?

I'd like to match your output and do some testing on our end for issue/bug possibilities.

          Thanks,

            ts_turtle,

Are there any printer changes in your script?

I call for a subscript that changes the printer to auto-select, 8.5*11 paper. I've tested the subscript on it's own and reviewed the File>Print Setup and it works fine. I've also tried the script without a subscript and the print setup does not hold and I get the same results.

Will the settings hold for another printer?

            No

Will the setting hold in a test database with a re-created script?

            No

Will File > Print hold the settings?

            Yes

            Thanks,

            X5
