    xDBC service crashes

    ManfredMeyer

      Summary

      xDBC service crashes

      Product

      FileMaker Server

      Version

      11.0.2.217

      Operating system version

      Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard

      Description of the issue

Using a cronjob on SuSE Linux Enterprise 10 I regularly start a Java program that sends a series of INSERT and UPDATE statements to a FileMaker Advanced Server. Sometimes the Java program gets an Null-Pointer-Exception from the JDBC driver (see below). From then on no further JDBC connections are possible to the server because the xDBC service hast stopped and must be restarted.

      Configuration information

Updating the JDBC driver to version 11.3.76 did not solve the problem.

          Update:

The reason for the crash seems to be a memory leak in the process "fmxdbc_listener.exe *32". With each execution of my Java program the memory consumption increases by approximately 15MB. At about 2GB the xDBC-Listener crashes.

Is there an update for the FileMaker Server coming up that resolves this issue or is there a way to work around the memory leak?

The memory leak seams to be fixed in FileMaker Server Advanced 11.0v3. I did a stress test for 18 hours and the memory usage remained at a constant level.

Thanks to TSGal and FileMaker Inc.
