Thank you for your post.
Do you have FileMaker Server or another copy of FileMaker Pro installed on the same computer? If you have FileMaker Server, uninstall it and remove it from the computer. Reboot the computer and try again. If you have another copy of FileMaker Pro installed, make sure it is not running. Reboot the computer and try again.
Keep me updated with any progress.
Yes I have FM Server on same machine. I posted same question on FM Server Forum and was told to turn OFF server but that didnt help. How do I UNINSTALL server? I downloaded trial version.
UNinstalling the server worked. I can now share files and see my files on FM GO. But does that mean I can never have FM Server on the same computer and share files this way?
Not to share files from FileMaker Pro, but if you have FileMaker server installed, why would you want to? (Yeah, I know, if you are playing with the trial copy, you might have this situation, but other than that...)
so what you are saying is that if I have FM server there is no reason to use peer to peer file sharing from FM Pro, right? Just upload to the server and access in FM Go that way.
Yep. FileMaker Server has a lot more horsepower for supporting this and many added features such as automated backups as well.
