    Determining Horizontal or Vertical Orientation

      Determining Horizontal or Vertical Orientation

      Post

Just bought a Touch after such procrastination...

I thought I might be able to determine whether or not it was being held H or V by testing the Window Size hoping that Filemaker would switch the values in the Gets, but no luck there.

So, is there any method of determining the v or h? I would like to switch layouts to one designed for v or one designed for h without having to click a button.

This would be a nice TRIGGER when the handheld's orientation changes.

          Answered my own question:

There are 3 size Gets: Window, Desktop and Content.

Put this inside a dialog to see the changes and sizes:

          "Window: " & Get ( WindowWidth ) & " x " & Get ( WindowHeight ) & ¶ &
          "Desktop: " & Get ( WindowDesktopWidth ) &  " x " & Get ( WindowDesktopHeight ) & ¶ &
          "Content: " & Get ( WindowContentWidth ) &  " x " & Get ( WindowContentHeight )

The second and third change with orientation...

Watch how the status bar and tool bar toggles change the values...

          Get ( WindowContentWidth ) = 320 for v or 480 for h is the answer...

          Now, how to trigger?
