Filemaker go does not have an option to disable the keyboard. The only way I've seen to disable the internal keyboard is by connecting an external bluetooth keyboard. You can make a feature request at the following link:
Thanks for answering my question Chamblee but this isnt what I mean. Sorry Im not very good at explaining.
What I am looking for is a script step that mimicks clicking into a blank space, or so that no record is active. Then the keyboard hides and the user can see the whole screen, they can then choose to push the next button on the screen that was previously hidden by the keyboard.
There is no way to disable the keyboard. There is no way to mimick a click out side of a field, to disable the keyboard. Clicking outside a field commits records and you can issue a commit record from script, but filemaker still goes to the next tab stop. This question has been asked several times and if there was a way it would be on this forum. Like i stated above you can make a feature request.
I created an sample app with a Next that navigates to the next layout. This Next button is grayed out and will not go to the next layout until both field have data in them.
Maybe this will help until filemaker decides to add a disable/hide keyboard command.
Use an On Exit Script trigger on the second field to trigger a script with the Commit Record script step.
Thanks rgordon, but I couldnt make this work either, correct me if I have this wrong but I set and "OnObjectExit" Script trigger to the 2nd field using the Script Step "Commit Records/Request" but on exit of the field the cursor still returns to the first field, which then keeps the keboard visable. Im using an iPad 2.
I have changed the size of all my layouts so that everything is visable when the keyboard is active, which does solve my problem, just seems a waste to only use about half the screen.
After the Commit Record step add a Halt Script step.
That works fine !
