It's a slow day for me so I'll ask "How about 5.7886588"?
You could just create a value list and use a popdown list: 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5... Then listen to the clicks of the giant humonguous wheel.
There is probably a plugin somewhere for Pro, no Go but I don't think it will look as nice as your slider?
Can you create a button size graphic with the ice shading? Like on the Go home screen? I need one for a button background.
You could emulate one by creating buttons on your layout that enter their value. Divide that bar into 20 parts for the button. Then use a repeating field with 20 parts and when the buton is touched, insert the round graphic into that repeating are field[x]. Close...
Thank you for your posts.
I recommend you enter this suggestion into our Feature Requests web form at:
The entries into this web form are populated in a database file that is hosted by Development and Product Management, where the entries are then discussed and considered for future releases. Although I could copy your post and paste it into the web form, there are a couple of questions asked that only you can answer.
Thanks, TSGal, I just did.
I am also very interested in this topic. Did you get an answer or any other ideas?
I was looking at this http://fmforums.com/forum/topic/59440-slider-scale-for-survey/
but doesnt work properly on iPAD, maybe needs some enhancement, but I cant do this, because of quite beginner status. Also some guys recoment the webviewer, but same, doesnt get this to run as I want.
No, no other replies.
I didn't read the entire thread you referred me to, but as a stop-gap 'til there's a better solution, we are using a method similar to the first-mentioned example (the ZIP file). I'm not sure what your difficulty is, but that should work on iPad. Perhaps it's a problem because the buttons are so small? For the iPad they are really too tiny unless you zoom in... or resize everything (and reduce the number of repetitions and button-dupes so it fits on one screen).
Hey, does anyone know wether this feature is in FM 12 now? Just phoned the support, but they have to check this and will come back to me. As long as I know something more I will post it. But as I know, that response from support can take weeks, I just wanted to know, if anybody has the solution right now ;-)
I believe the answer is "NO". I haven't checked it in Go 12, but since Go 12 databases must be authored in Pro 12 or Pro 12 Advanced, and I didn't see it as a field format option in FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced, I don't believe they've added it.
There is a slider in the Opacity popup when you create a gradient. Tap on one of the boxes with triangles on their head used to adjust the gradient. So, Filemaker engineers are aware of how to do this...
Now, Filemaker creates many features in its private dialogs that aren't added to our tool set. So, let's Occupy Filemaker Inc. until they let us use these features.
Here's the point to make:
We can add Checkboxes, radio buttons, popup menus...etc. But where is a useable slider? Other applications have had this for decades!
There you go. Sign and submit...
I feel out of the loop. Just were am I supposed to pitch my tent for Occupy FileMaker, so that I can unfurl this banner?
