got the same problem. Need to have Tracks 1& 2 pasted into a FM field.
Nice hardware are MagTek's iDynamo and Intuit's mophie for iPhone. But all solutions work only with dedicated CreditCard transaction Apps and do some specific coding right from the driver/firmware away!
Would be necessary to have the manufacteurer to write another firmware!
Same problem with this excellent product http://ipclineapro.com/
In Europe, a so called Health Inssurance Card is very common. The magnet stripe contains any ID-N° of client. What's your purpose?
I already sent an inquiry to Mophie for the Marketplace iPhone Case. Will probabely have no big effect if it's only me.
Feel welcome to do the same to give them any idea that there might be some profit to gain :-)
Maybe I'll do the same with MagTek but it's more difficult to catch them. And beside of that, MagTek's iDynamo has no good ratings about quality.
Although it's no case. Only kind of a plug to stick on the device
I believe someone is working on such a solution. You might want to contact them and see if they can provide you with any information.
Edit to correct the company
@Atalanta: thanks for the hint. I already sent him a mail. Let's see …
Has anyone discovered a solution for this? Who is working on this?
best suitable Cardreader-Hardware seems to be MagTek® iDynamo (Plug) and BulleT (Bluetooth), or Mophie's Marketplace (iPhone-Case). All of them use the iOS multipin connector and therefor are more stable than anything plugged into the Headphone input.
All of them have Firmware which do any DES, DUKPT and/or masked data encrytion and although require a specific iApp!
I tried to contact both of them month ago but didn't get any usefull answer yet.
Everybody is verry welcome to take a chance and contact them. Though maybe we'll gain any results.
All we need is a firmware to have content of Track 1,2,& 3 of magnetic stripe pasted into a textfield in any iApp without any encryption!
PS: mophie.com Server probabely down currently. Mophie seemed to be hardware-partner for Intuit payment solutions. Today, intuit promotes anther hardware which get's connected to the headphone plug :-(
