can you post a screenshot?
Is the portal a portal to a table in the same file as the layout or from an external data source table?
Attached is a screenshot from the iPad if the file is local on the device. The layout and the portals are in the same file. If the file is accessed from Filemaker Pro Advanced via the iPad the portals show no records. A funny thing however is that I am still able to create a new tax type in any one of the tables from the iPad, but it does not show. The new entry is only shown on the Filemaker Pro side.
Here is the screenshot of the same screen if the file is accessed from Filemaker Pro via the iPad. The files are exact copied with regards to content.
Here is the relationship diagram of the database. The table Global_TaxTypes is the source, but the portals on the screens above is based on the Global_ChartOfAccounts_InputTaxTypes and Global_ChartOfAccounts_OutputTaxTypes which has relationships defined to split the input and output categories in the first table but is the same table as the first table just different instances. I have to add that it works, except when the iPad is accessing the file from Filemaker Pro as the host.
I see global fields in use here. Are you aware that there are key differences in how global field work in a hosted database as opposed to in a single user database such as when your file is local to the iPad?
That difference might explain the results that you are getting.
I am not using any of the global fields in these particular aspects. The only use of the global fields in this case is the name of the application and an account separator character (not used in the Tax type tables) - but this is al working according to design. There are several cross product relationships just to enable the various tables to be added to the main layout (global), but they are all separately edited. Is there a place maybe where I can provide you with a copy of the database file itself? I researched the global fields article you provided - thanks - but this would not impact my design in any way.
However, when I changed the source table of the portals to be Global_TaxTypes and then filtered each portal for the relevant category, it works. Thanks
You might also take your original version of this file and check it again after doing the following:
Double click the home button.
"Flick" the FileMaker Go Application up to close the application
Then reopen this database in FileMaker Go while having made no other changes and see if your portals display correctly.
This is a long shot, but a number of buggy issues in FM GO are temporarily resolved by restarting the FM GO App.
