Correction, this is an FMP12/Filemaker Go project (no FMP11).
Thank you for your post.
FileMaker Go will allow you take pictures, assuming you have a built-in camera on the iPad. Put your cursor in a Container field, and the first option that appears is "Camera" which activates the camera, where you can then save the image into the field. No caption is available, but you can enter a caption into a separate Text field after the picture is taken.
FileMaker Go does allow you to email records. There is an option to save the record as PDF and then email the PDF file.
Let me know if you need additional clarificaton.
I knew the capibility was there, just not familer enough with the development for getting it done. I know the photos will go into a container field but there are some additional questions:
1) What is the max number of photos that can go in a container field?
2) Is it possible to script the field so that after a photo is taken/added the user is prompted for something like "Add another photo?" with a Yes/No response. "Yes" would automaticly shift to the next segment of the container for inserting/taking the next photo where "No" would end the script & return them to the database.
3) There is an interest in being able to view the photos in a record w/out having to click on them to enlarge them but I think this will be a challange due to layout limitations. Am I wrong on this (I'd be happy if I was)? If I'm not wrong about it, is there a way to do a thumbnail view that might work for their needs?
1) one photo for each container field, but you can set up a table of records and just keep adding records as needed to store additional photos
The answer from "PhilModJunk" is correct (Thank you). One image per Container field. If you need additional photos for the record, you may want to consider a separate table for photos, and then link the photos to the appropriate record. There is an option when creating a relationship that will allow you add records while automatically linking to the appropriate "audit" record.
You can set up a script trigger (a script that triggers) after the picture has been taken (OnObjectModify) that will prompt you to add another picture. If you respond "Yes", you can execute a script to get you into the Container field, but you will have to tap "Camera" again to take the picture.
If you have the photos in a separate table, you can scroll through the records in a portal. You can set the record height in the portal to be a little larger so a larger photo can display as you scroll through the records.
Let me know if you need more detailed information.
