we're using 'printopia' here on Mac's to let iOS use the Xerox network printers. Works! - just make sure that Your iOS device is in the same network as the Mac with printopia
Markus, thanks! I haven't tested this under pressure but I downloaded the demo and it was a snap to install Printopia. All the various printers on my mac were instantly available as AirPrint printers in Filemaker Go.
It's not a freebie, but I'm pretty sure I'll be making the $79 version at least.
Of course the looming question: Why does your mac printer sharing selection not do this automatically? Isn't Apple dedicated to inter-device operability? One would hope that since it's clearly possible Apple would have already built this in to 10.9 :-/
