It should prompt the user to replace the database. You can have the user delete the database from the device first.
When you open Filemaker Go it usually opens the last database the user was in if they didn't close the database or goes to Recent Files. If the database is open, have the user close the database by selecting the icon in the upper left hand corner, then select window, then the red x to close the database. Have the user select the Device icon at the bottom of the screen, then slide finger left on the desired database to remove, then select delete.
It does not actually prompt the user to replace the database it just creates a new one. Unfortunetly the clients do not like the answer of deleting the old databases.
Is there something that needs to be done, like a database ID or some sort of identifier to force it to ask to replace?
I use dropbox to sent files to my devices, and it prompts to replace the database. There is not any script steps to force it to ask to replace the database.
IF the file is closed when the new copy is copied over, you should get an option to replace. If the file is still open, you simply get a second copy of the file.
I guess that is why it prompts me when using dropbox, because I close the database. Good tip to know. Thanks
