Thank you for your post.
If you can save the 3D NX/CAD files as TIFF, PNG, or JPEG, you can then view it directly in a Container field. Or, if you have a 3D NX/CAD file with an app on an iOS device that can display this file type, then store the file in the Container field, and when you tap-hold, have it open in the iOS app.
Quick quezy : when i tap and hold, i can only choose from a limited set of actions (View, Replace, Export, Delete). I do have an appropriate CAD viewer... but can't the option to'Open in...'
Am I missing something ? Shold that be coded ?
How idid you insert the file in the container field (i.e. stored as a reference to the file or not)?
The file is embedded - not a reference to the file. If i make it a reference to the file, then FMGo explicitly tells me that it there is no attachement, which makes sense as it would have no way to directly access the filesystem where the file is stored.
I'm using FMPro 12 , iOS6 and FMGo 12. My googling leads me to believe that this was working on FMGo 11 and it now looks like the 'Open' button has just been removed.... quite weird....
Am i missing something ?
1. tap the container field holding your embedded file
2. tap "View"
3. tap the right arrow button at the top right
4. select your CAD viewer app from the list of "Open in" icons.
Thanks for that... however, stuck at step 3 : norught arrow button that can be tapped...
Have attached a screen cap...
The encouraging stuff is that you seem to know that it is going to work somehow...
Sorry, I don't think this method will work on your file type since FM Go was unable to even open it.
We'll keep looking until someone posts a way that works.
Thanks for that, but I do not think this is related to the file type : same problem with a Pages or Excel document. It simply looks like FileMaker Go does not behave the way it is meant to....
Ah.... found something :
Until now, I was opening a shared database on FMP. I have now opened it directly on FMGo and the Pages/Excel file types doe behave as expected.. bt not the dwg file.... rats...!
