ACLs applied on volume housing FileMaker DBs
I have inherited a FileMaker 8 server running Mac OS 10.4.11. The issue I have is that the previous person applied ACLs to the volume and modified the permissions on some of the DBs and left it with the inability to share DBs between users. I have read in the FileMaker Installation Guide; ACL file permissions: You must disable Access Control Lists in order to install the product. After installing, do not use ACL file permissions to control access to any FileMaker file. For more information, see the documentation that came with your operating system software. Can anyone tell me what I can do to revive my FileMaker server so people can share DBs and have it function as it should? I want to fix this issue before I upgrade to FileMaker Server 10.
Thank you for your post.
My first instinct would be to uninstall FileMaker Server 8, disable Access Control Lists, and reinstall FileMaker Server 8. This should then get your databases to be shared properly.
What steps have you taken thus far?
