Well there's network connection (which you tested and has to work for the files to be hosted) and there's internet access (needed for this widget to be able check for available updates.) You likely have already tested this, but can you access the internet from this machine?

Still not resolved.... The server stopped sending me notices about backups too.
I found elsewhere (on this forum) a note about using Terminal (we are on a mac) to
Launch Terminal and enter the following commands:
To close the database files:
To stop FileMaker Server:
fmsadmin stop server
Which sounds like it would be an orderly close up and do the least damage to the databases. No? Then we'd reboot, reinstall the FM admin console and try again. Thoughts?
Yes, I am confirming the steps you listed are correct.
"fmsadmin close" will close all database files to keep them undamaged. Following that, stop the server and reboot.
