Any problems with FileMaker Pro 7 client accessing FileMaker 11 Server files?
Here's the situation: I have an FMPro 7 Server that needs to be retired immediately for some reason. We have another FMPro 11 Server that has space available for extra databases (users on those dbs are connecting via FMPro 11 clients). I was thinking of throwing the .fp7 files from the FMPro 7 Server to the FMPro 11 Server machine temporarily, and see if they can access those files from FMPro 7 clients already installed on their machines. I have tested this and seems to work. FileMaker support does not think there will be issues. However the web site does talk about product obsolescence and does not recommend it.
I would later upgrade everyone (both servers and clients) from FMPro 7/FMPro 11 to FMPro 13. I also don't have the budget to upgrade them to FMPro 11 clients right now.
