    Best Worldwide Server Performance?

      Best Worldwide Server Performance?

      Your post

At my company people work in both Japan and the United States, and ideally they would like good performance when connecting to our FileMaker server from either location. If the server is located in Japan, the performance is better for those in Japan but not those in the United States, and vica versa.

What's the best way to maintain performance for our sales staff when they use the same data but are located in different countries?

Don't know about where best to host the database, but:

Keep your layout designs as simple as possible, use unstored calculation and summary fields on your layouts a little as possible.

You might also experiment with a Convert to Seperation Model where the interface file is on either each user's computer or on a local network server so that only data, not layout graphics needs to be transmitted from the remotely located server to each user.
