From reading the foums, I know that we should not use Time Machine to backup open/running copies of FMP databases. But is it OK to take back-ups of the back-up folder (in the local drive) using Time Machine???
Yes, though we don't use Time Machine, that's essentially the strategy we use. Server scheduled back ups back up copies to the local drive and a utility is used to copy the files to external locations for additional backup security.
You could write a script that can close the files for you. Then you can back up the "live" databases.
Thanks for your comment. I will try using Time Machine to back up the backup (non-live). I might consider using a third party backup utility if Time Machine looks like it is not working properly or interfering in the DB integrity. Thanks again.
