Not sure if this helps - as you want to do backups and I was just trying to have the databases on a separate volume but:
Thanks, but it really isn't helpfull. The folder in question already has the appropriate permissions (777) and owner = 'fmserver' and group = 'fmsadmin'
Anybody else, Please.
Seems I wasn't completely correct about permissions. I found that if I created a directory with 777 fmserver/fmsadmin/everyone at "filemac:/1TB HD/Backups/", then I could get it to work.
Where it wouldn't work, is when I nested the 'Backups' several layers deep in other directories. I assume that if I chowned 'fmserver' and chgrp 'fmsadmin' for the entire path it would work as well. For various reasons that's not an option for where I originally wanted the 'Backups' directory.
I tried to add 'fmserver'/'fmsadmin' through ACL in the Server Admin Panel, but this wasn't enough.
Anyways, I got it to work enough for me. I hope my experience helps someone else.
Yes - interesting - I tried and nested the folders - but I nested them THEN I ran thru the steps I was given and it was 100% fine.
But I just followed the steps to the letter AFTER I had finished creating/nesting the folders. (I am not 100% keen on manually typing commands into the Terminal so the drag/drop helped me a lot!)
