We had serveral V9 servers on the same network as a v7 server with zero issues.
Bet it's something with your network settings.
hmmm, i tried starting the fm9 server with the fmserverd start command from the terminal using the username under which it's installed (fmserver), and it seems to start but only for a short period, then it closes the server daemon again.
i can't start it from the admin console application. all it says is
"An error was encountered communicating with the server".
any pointers to where i might find some information regarding what kind of network communication the daemon makes? it seems weird that it works when not connected to the network, but as soon as i plug it in, the database server refuses to start.
thanks in advance
Any hints in the log files?
Some times i feel like slapping myself!
Apparently the guy who was managing the servers had it installed on another machine, which he told me wasn't the case, when i asked if that could be the problem.
i learned not to blindly trust what other people are saying, and next time i should go check obvious things like this myself:)
Anyways, thanks much for the super swift replies people, it was helpful.
