Title

FileMaker Server as an SQL source, newlines and INSERT

Your post

Hello All,

Does anyone know how to INSERT text into FileMaker Server when that text contains newlines?  If I have a database named "text_db" with a text field called "my_text" I can (via JDBC):

INSERT INTO  text_db (my_text) VALUES ('Hello, World!')

No problem.   If I want to insert text data with newlines, that's a problem.  On some other databases I can use escape sequences like 'Hello\nWorld' or something akin to that, but I've tried different approaches ('Hello%0dWorld', 'Hello\n\rWorld', etc.) with FileMaker to no avail.  Is there some undocumented way of doing this, or is this just not possible with FileMaker?  I would hate to have to make do with a substitution calculation on the FileMaker side; it seems wasteful.
