fmp7: error in Admin Console Start Page (Mac OS X)

      Your post

Just installed FM 11 Server Advanced on a Mac with OS X Snow Leopard Server (Safari version 5.0.1).

When I select "FileMaker Server 11 Technology Tests" from the Admin Console Start Page the following message appears:

Safari can’t open “fmp7://127.0.0.1/FMServer_Sample.fp7” because Mac OS X doesn’t recognize Internet addresses starting with “fmp7:”.

Could not find any reference to this error other than KB article on FM 8.5 (Answer ID: 6312). Any advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks!

          Thank you for posting.

When you enter a URL with the "fmp7" protocol into a web browser, it will attempt to open the remote file specified with FileMaker Pro. Unfortunately, this link won't work from the server unless FileMaker Pro is also installed. The normal way to open a remote file is to choose File > Open Remote in FileMaker Pro.

If you change the IP address in the URL to the server's local address, you should be able to access the file from another machine with FileMaker Pro installed.
