FMPro Server 10 as ODBC source for MS Excel - character set

      Your post

I have successfully made an ODBC connection from my FMPro Adv. Server getting data to a MS Excel Spreadsheet (Putting the file SequeLink.bundle in the /Library/ODBC on the client side and installing the drivers from http://www.actualtech.com, but selecting the SequeLink.bundl in SequeLink.bundle as the driver).

The FileMaker DB has only ASCII characters in file names and table names. The content of the records however includes Norwegian letters æ, ø and å. Quering DB through ODBC however replaces those characters with meaningless ones. √∏ as ø for instance.

I am not familiar with the SQL language. FileMaker documentation "fm10_odbc_jdbc_guide_en.pdf" recommends using SQL_C_WCHAR for Unicode data. Where is the SQL_C_WCHAR to be put?

      • In the driver configuration? (If yes, what are the key and value)
      • In the DSN configuration? (If yes, what are the key and value)
      • Or, in the query itself? (My present syntax in Microsoft Query is now SELECT Table.* FROM Table, because I want all records returned, how should SQL_C_WCHAR be included in this syntax - if applicable here)
