Get (accountName) should enter the account name used to open the database file.
get (userName) should access a user name setting in Preferences.
Just to confuse the issue, when you open a database and get the password dialog, FileMaker enters the USERname in the ACCOUNTname box for you and you have to change the user name in order to log in under an account name different from the user name. Thus, I wonder if you really used the Wyatt account name when logging in as FileMaker will put Gary in the account name box for you...
Sorry that is not the answer - I am not getting the name I type in the passwrd dialog (and yes I am certain I have changed the default)
More info - we have the server set to: File Display Filter: List only the databases each user is authorized to access
How are you implementing Get ( AccountName ) ?
If this is in a calculation field, it must be set in storage options to be "unstored" or it will not correctly update to show the account name for the current user.
No Calc field
Using like this in startup file:
Set Variable [$$uLogin: Value:Get ( AccountName )]
Further testing has found this:
works fine when Server is set to default under - Configuration - Database Server - File Display Filter - List all databases
switch to - List only the databases each user is autorized to access - and you get the incorrect account names (not the ones typed in when logging into file)
Hmmm, this sounds like a bug in FileMaker Server. I recommend making a report of this in Report an Issue (see tab for this at top of screen). To save typing you can copy and paste a link from this thread into your report.
