Java update 17 for Mac OS X 10.6
Can someone tell me if it is safe to install Java update 17 for Mac OS X 10.6 on FMSA 12 ? Reall bad experiences with Java updates make me wary.
Thank you for your post.
Only Java 6 will work with Mac OS X 10.6. Java 7 will only work with Mac OS X 10.7 and later. Therefore, make sure you are using Apple's Java 6.
Thank you for the post and I apologize for the delay.
FileMaker Server 12.0v3 (Advanced) is the highest version of FileMaker Server 12 that was tested with Mac OS X 10.6.8. The most recent version of Java provided by Apple, Java version 1.6.0_65 (Java for OS X 2013-005 and Mac OS X v10.6 Update 17) is used for the FileMaker Server Admin Console.
Additionally, on Mac OS X 10.6.8, after installing and updating to FileMaker Server 12.0v3, before deployment, follow the instructions in KB11958 to successfully launch and deploy the FileMaker Server 12.0v3 Admin Console.
How about Mac OS X 10.6.8 running FM11Server? Will Java 6 update 17 run the console?
No issues have been reported with FileMaker Server 11 running Java 6 update 17. If you are having difficulty, please let me know.
One of our other support technicians (TSFalcon) pointed out that a patch should also be installed via Knowledge Base Article #11958:
