      Multiple Database Instances

      Your post

We're looking at starting up FileMakerPro at work and I have a question about server licenses. We want to have production, training, and development instances of the database available. Can these three instances be managed using a single license of FM Server or Server Advanced? My experience is with Oracle databases so I'm not sure how this is handled with FMP.

      Thanks, Daniel

Yes a single install of Server can host all three. FileMaker once was limited to one table per file and it often took many many files to pull togehter a single solution so your server will count the number of connected client machines for licensing limitations--not the number of files open.

That said, there is an upper limit to how many files you have open at the same time on one server, but you are unlikely to reach that limit with just three solutions unless the consista of a great many files.
