You've posted this question in a section of the forum intended for questions about FileMaker Server. Questions on how to use FileMaker will get more and better responses when posted to the FM Pro Forum. (See tab at top of this screen.)
From what you have posted, am I correct that you have one table for clients and a related table for their addresses? Do you link a client to their addresses by a client id field? Is there a field in the address table that identifies the type of address?
Thanks, I noticed that the post went to FileMaker Server and I was just trying to figure out if there's a way to move it or if I should delete it and re-post it to the FM Pro Forum.
Yes to all questions. "Association" field in AddressTable identifies the type of address.
And how do you currently document in the send to field of the Publication table that the publication should be sent to two addresses? Do you list both in the field? If so in what format? or do you set up a separate publication record for each such address?
I set up a separate publication record for each address.
Then it would seem that you need these relationships:
Clients::__pkClientID = Addresses::_fkClientID
Publications::_fkClientID = Addresses::_fkClientID AND
Publications::SendTo = Addresses::AssociationChoices
Clients 2::__pkClientID = Publications::_fkClientID
Clients and Clients 2 are two Tutorial: What are Table Occurrences? with the same Clients datasource table.
For an explanation of the notation that I am using, see the first post of: Common Forum Relationship and Field Notations Explained
With those relationships, no calculation is needed, from Publications, you match to one and only one address record for each publication record.
