Also, when I try to re-type the license information into the Server Admin Console, I get the following error:
"You have entered an invalid license key"
Even though I have a VALID license key...
Check date and time of your system clock?
System clock shows the correct time and date.
Thank you for your post.
I don't have an immediate answer, but it sounds like there may be a memory conflict occurring. Are there any other services running on the server? Do the log files provide any clue? Do any of the hosted files have custom menus or custom functions? Any plug-ins?
Any other information you can provide may be helpful in narrowing down possible causes.
the only thing running on this box other than FileMaker is IIS. but just for the sake of creating redirects to FileMaker databases.
as for the log files, the day the scripts stop working they only state that the script was started -- but seems like it just gets stuck in that state and never resolves.... for example here is the log file as it stands currently:

This is problem I've encountered. The tech folks have yet to confirm it so it's not officially acknowledged but server scheduled back ups can "hang" and fail to complete. The fix is to restart your computer. This does pose a risk to your data, (Filemaker serverwill perform an consistancy check on each open file), but there's no other alternative.
Thanks Phil -- I have restarted the server several times and all is well for a couple of days and then I'm back to square one again and the scripts just hang...
Yep, others have reported the same. I've only had this happen twice and the last time was nearly 6 months ago... I know how to get back up and running, but no one has yet to figure out how to keep it from happening in the first place--though one user restarts his server every night in hopes this will prevent the issue.
just curious, our server is a on a VM -- would that play into this?
I don't know, as we haven't tried this with VM. Others have so maybe someone else can comment?
Hi - sorry you're havinfg trouble with the FMServer on your vps -
The average vps is usually not adequate to run FMS 10 Advanced as there are a number of tuning and resource issues that are required, not provided by the average vps provider -
Feel free to contact me privately (top of this page - right side - X Messages) as our company provides this service.
we have our own VM cluster -- my question was more in regards to anyone else running FM 10 on a vm experiencing the same issue.
but thx for the reply,
After I reboot the server, then launch FileMaker Server Admin Console -- the License Type reads, "Shipping". Not sure if that sheds any light on this topic...
Thanks for the additional information.
When the Admin Console "hangs", are guests still able to connect to hosted files? If so, that would mean Server is running, but Admin Console has gone deaf, and that is a problem we have been tracking for some time.
If you don't run virtual machine, does the problem still exist?
Any additional information you can provide may be helpful.
