    Problems installing Filemaker Server 10

      Problems installing Filemaker Server 10

      Your post

Yesterday I tried to install Filemaker 10 Server but it kept coming up with the following when I tried to install it, "FileMaker Server 9 is installed" and apparently I have to remove it as you can only have one server installed at a time. Fair enough but I have already binned Filemaker 9.0 application and server but I still get told I have Filemaker 9 installed. Any help on this matter is most welcome.

I have tried the following but without success:-

          Try the following:

          1.  Launch Terminal and type in the following commands:

               fmsadmin STOP

               sudo launchctl stop com.filemaker.fms

          2.  Verify that the Mac HD > Library > FileMaker Server folder has been removed.  If not, move it to the trash and empty the trash.

          3.  Reboot

          4.  Try the following command in Terminal again:

               sudo launchctl stop com.filemaker.fms

          5.  Verify in Activity Monitor that there are no FMS services running

          6.  Reinstall FMS.

          After doing 1. I get fmsadmin: really stop? (y, n) y
but then it is IP Address is invalid or inaccessible.

          So still struggling.

            Thank you for your posts.

All the steps you have documented are good.  However, I need some additional answers.

Did you uninstall FileMaker Server 9 or simply moved files/folders to the trash?

Do you have any user names of fmsadmin or fmsserver?  I would search for this first.

Was FileMaker Server installed to a different user account than the current user account?

Any other information you can provide may be helpful.
