I have tried to install Filemaker server 10 with the recommended PHP installation (PHP 5.2.9) that come with the CD.
I still got the same result with minutes response time.
Do you find any hints in the log files? /Library/FileMaker Server/Logs/
I found the problem, nothing to do with Filemaker server itself.
I had a misconfiguration of the DNS servers in the network settings. Now everything works smooth and fast.
Funnu that the configuration only affected the PHP behaviour.
Can you share what the DNS problem/fix was?
We are on FMS 10.0.2 Standard and have the same problem.....the address is
and this should and did come up promptly before upgrading to Snow Leopard. Now it is about 30 seconds.
If you have the answer I sure would appreciate the info.
Well, the only thing a had to do was to put in the appropriate DNS servers in the Network konfiguration section in the system settings.
I had miss written the DNS servers addresses.
Before i corrected this problme the server seemed to work fine except for the extremely slow PHP response.
Thanks for that - I finally got the time to sit down today and enter the appropriate static Ip addresse in the Network Configuration DNS Servers and also the local 192.etc address. However it was still slow but when I changed the Search domains from an automatically entered [by the router] address to our own domain the results were outstanding - so quick - even for the iphone catalog. Now I can really get down to making the Filemaker Server 10 work properly on the net with more attractive and responsive sites.
I am using Mac OSX 10.6 and have the same issues with PHP. I am running Filemaker server on Mac OSX 10.2.6. When running the test page from Filemaker server 10.0.2.206 it loads fast for IWP and XSLT practically loads within 2-3 seconds. PHP however takes about 30 seconds. I have tried making the changes suggested to my DNS settings but to no avail. I have used the PHP version that came with filemaker 5.2.9.
Can someone please help. PHP is just not workable with Filemaker Server running on Snow Leopard for me.
I would appreciate step by step instructions on how to get this working.
I meant to say the version of Mac OSX is Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and not 10.2.6 as I mentioned in my previous post. I have recently tested the PHP test page running the same version of FMS 10.0.2.206 on Leopard 10.5.8 and it works fine. The page loads in like 1 second. I did notice that the version of PHP is 5.2.6 however. I will now try with PHP version 5.2.6 on Snow Leopard to see if this resolves the slow loading issue.
This issue must be due to something else than the DNS settings problem that i had. If its is the DNS problem it would affect the php test page as well.
I suggest you look through your scripts to see if you have some links calling for a slow site or a function that does not work.
I am convinced it is a Filemaker Server issue running on Snow Leopard. I am simply installing Filemaker Server from a clean install of the Snow Leopard OS and then running the PHP test page and it takes 30 secs to load. When I do the same thing on Leopard it loads instantly.
If anyone can tell me they have the PHP test page loading instantly on a clean install of the Snow Leopard OS running the Filemaker Snow Leopard install of FMS10 then I would love to hear from you.
I agree. I misread your previous post. I thought you wrote that the php test page was loading fast. Sorry.
When i had this problem it was due to a misconfiguration in the network settings. I had the wrong DNS servers settings.
If my previous post with my instructions isn't helping you i really don know if i can help you.
Someone else maybe?
I am Foxyhimself above and cfoxjohnson [don't ask] but this is running FMS 10 with php from this database
on a Mac in the tiny hamlet of Ripley UK where the Internet is notoriously bad and slow [blame bt]
Here is the test page
I might add that the server is acting wirelessly to a Time capsule and then ethernet to the router
