While this appears to indeed stop the Filemaker server, I still can't install the 12v5 update because the updater thinks the server is still running. If I check my activity monitor, I don't see anything that mentions fmserver but the updater says that the server can't be running for the update to take place. I'm running Mac OS 10.8.4 server and I too had updated Java to the latest version prior to installing server 12v5. How can I update if the updater thinks it's still running when it's not?
Perhaps this is related to OSX server running an instance of apache.
That makes me wonder what the updater checks for to see if Filemaker server is still running or not. Unfortunately I don't see anything useful in the logs, just an error message from the installer that it can't install because the server is running even though it's not. Is there some file that might be not be getting removed that the installer checks for?
