Thank you for your post.
Instant Web Publishing does not update the record until you Submit. With a Conditional value list, the first field has to be entered before the second value list displays. Therefore, you may want to put a button to the right of the first pop-up that executes a script that commits the record and sets the focus to the next pop-up. Then, after you finish selecting the value from the first pop-up, click the button, the record is saved and your desired values will now appear in the second pop-up.
Let me know if you need additional clarification.
I think I need additional clarification.
I have my pop-up field "source_type".
On the web interface, I select a value from that pop-up field.
I then have a button which runs a script that only has in it the line:
Commit Records/Requests (skip data entry validation; no dialog)
However, if I use this button, a message comes up on the browser that says:
Data Entry Error; Your attempt to save chagnes to the current record or request failed because of the following:
Choose field contents from value list for field "source_type". If I click "OK", it goes back to the page and there's nothing selected in that pop-up box any more.
Am I missing how to "set the focus to the next pop-up"? Maybe that's the clarification I need? Or do I need something additional in my script that actually commits the record when I select the first popup?
OH, and there's no such error in FileMaker client when I click on the button there -- the value I selected in the first pop-up remains there.
You may need to commit the record with the "no dialog" option so that validation tests are not performed on your record with this commit.
