      Title

Where does FMS13 pull the web server IP address from?

      Your post

(the dns and IP below are made up examples)

Our server domain is  filemaker.school.edu and our SSL cert is working for that address.

When I look in the FMP13 Admin Console here:

Admin Console > Status > Web Server

it shows the web publishing address as  filemaker.dept.net.school.edu, and all databases clicked on within the web interface try to access this address, and thus gives an SSL warning.  (doing a network lookup for both returns the same IP)

Where does FMS pull this dns from?  Is it automatically pulled from the network?

           Can I override this somewhere?

           Thanks

The server dns resolves during installation and FMS hard codes it at that time.  If the server has more than one domain and you want Filemaker's Group Start pages' webd links to take you to a different dns other than the primary one, you'll have to temporarily change the network info so that the desired one is the primary one during the FMS install.  After you install FMS, you can change it back.

If a change is made to the server's dns and you want to modify it within FMS, you can "edit deployment" and the Web Server IP address will be appropriately modified.
