I'm using FM11 right now and have been working on tweaking a pre-existing database for the past month or so.
Management wanted a better picture on who has been editing/accessing database entries since our database is a bit of a Rolodex/information hub.
I implemented two fields which have worked well:
- Last Edit (auto-entering timestamp whenever a user edits an entry)
- User Modified (auto-enters name of user editing an entry)
Additionally, each user in the company has their own "personal layout" which is essentially a comments box with notes/codes which any employee can use. There's also a main comments box in a tab-separated space. Each use can then add comments which show up in the global layouts, and add their own comments in their own personal boxes, or go to another use and tag comments in their boxes.
I'd like to eliminate the auto-entering fields from updating when users add comments to the personal comment boxes. Is this possible?
