Have you tried restarting the adminserver via command line? FMSADMIN RESTART ADMINSERVER
Do you have an SSL certificate installed, and if so did you follow FIleMaker's directions for running the update if you have SSL? Software Update: FileMaker Server 14.0v2 release notes | FileMaker
After I restarted the server, I did not try the command line. But I just did, nothing has been changed. I did not install SSL certificate in the server. Thanks.
I just found one more problem: although I can access the databases in the server, but I can not upload a solution up to server. The server won't recognize my admin account. Any suggestions about the problem?
port 443 is required to be open to your server in order for the upload to work.
I asked the IT group and just got the reply that the port 443 is open: "443/tcp open https".
I tried to upload a datafile to the server again, and failed for the same reason.
There's an open issue about this here:
I'm not sure it's strictly related to the .2 update, because I'm running into it now while building servers from scratch.
After spending many days, troubleshooting with FM tech-support for hours and with help from our IT support team, the problem was fixed yesterday. There is a bug in the new version and to fix it, you have to launch as an admin on the server command line, then run "fmsadmin setup fmwebsite". After that, everything was back to normal.
Outstanding. This cleared it up immediately; the status appears correctly in the console, the web console is accessible externally.
Thank you for sharing your findings.
Thank you for let me know that the command can fix your issue too. Now I will put this command to the thread you referred on Sep 11. Hopefully, it will solve the issue for that discussion too.
Hmmmm. I'm the one that posted the original problem with the 14.02 admin console. We rolled back to the 14.01 release and the problem disappeared. Based on your positive experience, I reinstalled the 14.02 server patch to our Test Server. I carefull observed the admin console just in the default state - and the Web Status icons were NOT grayed out, and the admin console was working properly if you are on the console of the machine itself. [This particular VM has never allowed the Admin console to be run Remotely - even for version 13].
I went ahead and ran the command line procedure you found, and I saw confirmation that Configuration changes were made to my FMWebSite rewrite rules - which I'm not sure I understand.... but whatever. The exact syntax echo'd back to the screen is:
Applied configuration changes to section "system.webServer/rewrite/rules" for "M
ACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/FMWebSite" at configuration commit path "MACHINE/WEBROOT/
I'll let this run on our Test machine for a while, I need to be convinced that is stable enough for my production environment.
Thank-you Lizhe for sharing your progress.
