The last several posts that I have initiated don't show up in the Forum. Did I sin?
I share similar experiences and couldn't tell why some of my posts get well recognized and others don't get acknowledged after weeks.
You're certainly not the only one who struggles with the structure of this forum:
When will Jive speed up?
I see 3 posts on this month here. Did you made more?
not just these postings here. If You start this forums via 'discussions', You will miss some postings
there are also postings/threads that I only find when I answered before - and a new post came in (can't find them elseway, maybe it's because of me, getting too old for things like this..)
Thank you for your responses. I can find my posts if I search by title or by my name, otherwise they don't seem to be visible on the forum even right after the post is made.
Wouldn't it be easy to have a setting where the user could select 'show posts last day', 'show last week' etc. I'm sure we are all missing may posts if we are only seeing the few most recent posts.
be welcome to also add suggestions to this thread:
Mark Baum - FMI will listen
I added to to Jive.
Hi kbleicken, could you reply with the URL of one of your posts that isn't showing up?
For example, the URL of this discussion is https://community.filemaker.com/message/506975
Hi kbleicken, I've found the problem: you're having discussions with yourself. You are creating the discussions in your private content area rather than in the group Discussions area. I understand that the fact this happened is a usability issue -- let's set that aside and talk about how to fix the issue:
WHEN CREATING NEW DISCUSSIONS:
Go to the home page, click on the big Discussions heading (with the purple icon next to it), the click on the Action "Start a discussion". This will cause the discussion to be located in the proper place.
TO FIX YOUR EXISTING DISCUSSIONS:
Click on your drop-down name in the upper right, choose View Profile, then choose Content.
You should now be at this URL: https://community.filemaker.com/people/kbleicken/content
See how some postings say "In Report an Issue" or "In Discussions" under them? That means they are in a public place.
All the others are in your own little world :-)
Open one of them, then select the Move action (on the right).
Then click Spaces and choose the Discussions space.
If this doesn't work for you, I'm happy to help. Just want you to see what's going on first.
Howdy, Mark! This issue arose as this forum began. I have searched by kbleicken's name (clicking on it and choosing the activity link)
here is an example url of a post that may not be showing in the forum
SMTP problem sending multiple email using sendmail script step
And if you view the post you see this:
Note WHERE this was posted. If users navigate TO a discussion group and then post a new question, it's easier than remembering to specify that it be posted to that group.
Thanks, Bev -- great minds think alike -- I assume you posted this before seeing my response above. I think your explanation is clearer, but we're on the same page here. Cheers -- Mark
Yes, I was typing as you were posting.
I wanted to assure all that this is a "feature" and not a "bug". I think we all encountered it early on.
Though maybe it's better to have "The FileMaker Community" set as a Default.
btw., I'm looking for a option to change language in my Community Setup from German back to English as it was before the forums transition.
Clicking your name in header menu, there is "Preferences" for setting language.
It seems not only me, language forced change...
not sure - but there might be other issues:
- this morning, one thread is missing under discussions, but shows under content
- it's the thread about corrupt PDF
here are 2 screenshots, one from discussions, the other from discussions/content
Thank you for your detailed instructions. I've moved one of the posts
to the discussions section.
I don't get why anyone would like to post a post to themselves. Seems
like the software is over-engineered.

It looks like there are two "Corrupt PDF" threads, one in the author's personal Discussions area, and the other in the Community Discussions area:
Only the community one will show up under recent content for community discussions -- and then only if there's a recent reply to it.
It looks like people are replying to both threads, which confuses the issue a little.
