You need to give more information. What version of FM did you upgrade from?
Thanks, I was on FM12 upgrade to 14
Though you may had upgrade from a FM11. There was not any changes how PDFs are handle from FM12 to FM14.
What is contained in the field information? Is the document missing? Is the PDF in a interactive container? I assume the PDF is store externally. Did the path to the PDFs change? Is the database hosted or local? If networked, are the PDFs on the local machine or the hosted machine?
The file is remote soI tried it form another computer and it works so it has something to do with the install. I updated FM first then updated Adobe. I think I have to remove FM now and reinstall.
I believe there is a path problem to the PDFs. If you have the PDFs on a shared drive, the path to the PDFs will have to be the same on all computers. Check your drive mappings.
I appreciate your feedback, but that is not the issue. I recall having this happen a few years back and it was about sequence, I had to update adobe then reinstall FM and it all worked. I will be trying that once I can access the customers computer
The order the software is installed would not cause an issue. After updates it maybe required to restart the software and sometimes a reboot of the computer is required.
I did uninstalls, restarts, still the same issue. The data dosent show on the PDF's
My statement is that updates sometime requires restarts and reboots, not that it would fix your current issue. Install order of adobe and filemaker will not affect the database working.
The installing / uninstalling of adobe would not effect data in a filemaker database.
You have not provided enough information about your database. It appears you have a design issue that is causing fields not to show data.
I have a hosted solution I sell with a 100+ installs. This is happening on one machine, windows 7. I just removed FM14 and the pdf immediately worked with the previously installed 12. No other changes were made to anything expect FM12 vs FM14
PS it is FM14 V2
Things change between versions of FM. Most items should be backwards compatible, but that is not a 100% guarantee.
You have not been clear on the issue. I though at first you were having a issue with PDFs in a container then you made a statement later about data missing from the PDF. You need to explain your setup in more detail.
How is the PDF used in the database?
Is the PDF display on a layout (object) using FM data fields to fill the PDF?
Is the PDF in a container?
Is there an issue in viewing the PDF or is data the only thing missing?
Is the data missing from on screen view or only when you do a preview or print?
I have a dozens of layouts that print as PDF. None are working correctly. Some have a combination of images and data. The images print but the text data is missing.
As I mentioned the structure works fine from another computer and works fine with 12 on this computer. I am confident it has nothing to do with the structure of the data ect. This is an issue on just this computer.
Perhaps I need to remove FM12 and then install 14 (my next step)
I am checking to see if all windows updates are done.
I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue where PDF stopped working correctly after an upgrade to 14 and if they found a solution.
I don't work for FMI, but I don't recall seeing any post where the PDF have stopped working.
You state print as a PDF, so are you using FM "Save As PDF" then printing or are you using a different program to create the PDF?
Is the data displaying on the print layout? If so can you preview the layout and if so does it display the data?
