Are you also hosting on FMS14?
Did you reboot the ipad after installing FMGO 14?
Thanks for the ideas Mike.
- These are local files only.
- Yes, the iPads are restarted and are at 9.0.2
I've had to revert to GO13 because of crashing. The updates have made it slightly better but still hasn't fixed the issues. Hopefully an upcoming update will fix our problems.
Have you disabled steps in that script to narrow it down to what script step is causing the issue? You might be able to code around it with a patch for 14.
Yes, I've found that web viewer interaction and insert from URL are causing the most issues. However you can improve it slightly by using a pause script of .1 seconds before the script step is executed.
I was able to reduce crashes by adding .1 pauses - but it was under 14.01 (go) and after layout changes.
under 14.02, the solution runs quite fine, no crashes since the update
- do You have a crash or does FMGo just 'go away'? (could be a low memory situation, FMGo asks for more memory that is available and just 'slips away'... happens more often on 1GB devices, should occur less often on an iPad Air2, for example)
- did it happen as well under iOS8? I find iOS9 unfinished, makes problems with split view (slooow browsing). Disabeling split view makes it crispier, but does not resolve issues like flashing under Reflector (orientation lock), etc.
I never could replicate all the FMGo crashes posted so far but I'm always running most current Mac- and iOS Developer Releases.
Though I would recommend to do tests with next iOS public beta release as soon as available.
I have paused and shown dialogs to narrow down the issue. Has not seemed to pinpoint the issue.
It does seem to be isolated to a single layout (not sure but seemingly). The issue is semi-reproducible i.e. sometimes it happens on the first access to that Layout, sometimes the second or third time - but all the crashes seem related to that specific layout.
So, basic FileMaker troubleshooting ;-) I'm currently re-creating that layout and re-directing access to the new one.
I'll let everyone know what comes of that effort.
Thank you for your posts.
Our Development and Testing departments would like to see a copy of your solution so they can determine why it is crashing in FileMaker Go 14, and not in FileMaker Go 13. I have sent you a private message with instructions where to send the file.
I would also try testing on an iOS8 device if you can, seeing though that TSGal just posted though, I'd highly recommend taking the opportunity to work with FMI on the issue as well.
I have determined that rebuilding the offending layout 'fixed' the crashing. I actually found another layout that crashed Go and after a rebuild of that layout as well the crashing has been avoided for that layout as well.
Of perhaps some note the scripts associated with navigating to these layouts had ExecuteSQL statements. Not definitely associated with the crash but in my head suspect.
