    New to scripting: how to find records with same field info in another layout

    ElisabethAnderson

      Working in Layout #1; need to find records in Layout #2 which have same information in, e.g. Field #15 in Layout #1.

      Script:

      Go to Layout #2

      Find matching records (constrain; Layout #2::Award #)

      It doesn't work. Argh. Any ideas where my problem is?

          Find Matching Records[] will just match on whatever record you happen to land on after switching to layout #2. Try:

          Set Variable [ $someValue ; Table1::someField ]

          Enter Find Mode [ no pause ]

          Go to Layout [ Layout2 ( Table2 ) ]

          Set Field [ Table2::someField ; $someValue ]

          Set Error Capture

          Perform Find

          assuming that both layouts are not based on the same table.

          or create a relationship  as Table1::someField = Table2.:someField and use and use Go to Related Record[].
