I have a vaulelist which contains 50+ values.
I required to make that field as Popup style, In Drop-down list type only arrow(to show hidden list) will appear?
for Popup type which doesn't?
I got know about this after I saw your both valuable suggestions( bigtom, mschneider ) that In FMP 12v1, Popup style not have arrow in Classic theme!! In Dark & other themes only have that feature!!
Anyway Thanks for the suggestion bigtom & mschneider
In the inspector you can change the color of the arrow in the appearance tab and selecting Pop-up Menu: Icon. Please check this. Your color may be set to Null. I use this for when I need to display a selected value from the list but not allow data entry. Very useful for multi-lingual virtual lists.
'popup' is a 'menu'-styled object. therefore it shows double sized lines on bottom and right. You can add an arrow to the right side using a font - or You can keep the popup (list) one and use scriptriggers to avoid entering other values
btw. What version of FM, what theme?
Thanks for the reply!
I'm using FileMaker 12v1 – Win XP, using Classic theme (for IWP compatible)
Thought this Coloring feature only accept in Mac OS (or) Other themes or latest versions of FMP13 / FMP14!!
I'm using FileMaker 12v1 – Win XP, using Classic theme (for IWP compatible), there is no Icon coloring option here.
I checked a v12 solution and the popup shows the arrow by default and the dropdown has an arrow option in the inspector data tab.
I do see the arrow is missing from the minimal default edit box though. I do not recall how IWP handles this but adding the arrow via font or image may work. I am not sure if IWP requires a default formatted field. It has been a while since I worked with it. You might get away with copying in a field from another layout that has a lot of the theme attributes removed but still has the arrow.
This is not a new problem and others have solved it in the past.
